The origin of Arlo Twitch

It was a lazy summer's day in Australia, back in 2022. Beach in the morning, then a chill afternoon reading a book; that was the plan. But this particular day, my youngest son and I set our books down and started making up our own story instead. We started with a mouse. By the end of the afternoon, that mouse lived on a planet made entirely of cheese, and the planet was shrinking!

The idea stuck with me.

A few months later, I turned it into a short story. My youngest and his big brother gave me their honest feedback: it was okay, but it needed a lot more work (thanks, kids!)

So I kept adding to it, weaving in more characters (hello, Chedda), amping up the adventure and mystery, until somehow, miraculously, "Who Stole the Cheese?" came together, and Arlo Twitch, our curious, adventure-loving mouse, was born.

Since then, I've written two more books in the series, with more planned. I truly believe stories can do more than entertain. They build confidence, spark imagination, and sneak in life lessons without kids even noticing (a bit like grating zucchini into spag bol).

So that's Arlo's story, and mine too, really. I hope you enjoy Arlo's world as much as my family and I have enjoyed creating it.
